The Abu Dhabi Police Happiness Patrol distributed gifts to 51 motorists who pledged to obey traffic rules and regulations on the occasion of the 51st National Day of the United Arab Emirates.
While distributing the gifts, the Happiness Patrol officers highlighted the Abu Dhabi Police’s willingness to adopt the best systems and mechanisms to improve the traffic culture among various segments of society through programs that promote road safety to save lives and property.
Officers also urged motorists to always drive carefully on the roads for their safety and that of other road users.
The initiative is part of the force’s efforts to spread positivity among drivers and various groups in society, encourage them to obey traffic rules and cement the idea of rewards instead of penalties.
The motorists who received the gifts expressed great happiness and joy and thanked the Abu Dhabi Police for their pioneering efforts in communicating and interacting with them on all occasions in a way that exceeded their expectations. .
Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi Police have urged motorists to follow the rules during National Day celebrations and parades.
The force said motorists are allowed to decorate their vehicles appropriately to mark the occasion, from Nov. 28 to Dec. 6, but all decorations must be removed after that time.
People caught decorating their car beyond acceptable limits will be punished, police say.
Authorities have set out 14 rules that must be followed by all drivers during National Day celebrations and parades, including avoiding obstructing traffic or parking in undesignated areas, drivers are not allowed to change the color of their vehicles, not to use spray paint on cars, more – to tint the car window and not to obscure license plates.
