On Friday, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, met with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
During the meeting held in Ganobhaban, the State Minister requested greater cooperation from Bangladesh to expand the air link between Bangladesh and the UAE, a press release from the press wing of the PMO said.
He also said that the UAE wanted to strengthen cooperation with Bangladesh for the alliance of the mangrove initiative, reforestation, renewable energy, floating solar energy, food processing, agriculture and investments.
Ahmed thanked Sheikh Hasina for his government’s warm hospitality towards his delegation during the IORA Ministerial Meeting held in Dhaka on November 23-24, 2022.
He expressed his satisfaction with the organization of a very productive IORA meeting by Bangladesh as the current Chair of IORA.
The UAE Minister of State stressed that under Bangladesh’s chairmanship, the IORA would be more integrated and effective.
He mentioned that next year the United Arab Emirates would host COP28 and requested Bangladesh’s participation in it.
Ahmed also appreciated the priority of Sheikh Hasina’s government on agriculture and poverty reduction.
The Prime Minister appreciated the excellent arrangement of the United Arab Emirates during the Expo 2020 held in Dubai.
She said bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the UAE would be further strengthened in the coming days.
