A consortium is still pursuing a bid to buy Doncaster Sheffield Airport, according to council bosses.
The Daily Telegraph has reported that a bailout attempt by a Middle Eastern consortium has stalled because the Peel owners say they cannot verify the source of their funding for the proposed deal. Doncaster Council said: “Contrary to reports over the weekend, we understand that the bidders are still engaged in ongoing negotiations with Peel and are seeking a meeting.”
It comes after Judge Fordham reserved judgment on a legal challenge by the council. The case heard before the Administrative Court of Leeds is the first step towards judicial review. The council argued that Peel did not allow time for a buyer to make a realistic offer.
