A large number of community members from Pakistan residing in the UAE attended and celebrated the 51st UAE National Day under the theme “We Stand Together” at the Pakistani Association in Dubai on Thursday evening.
The event was organized by PAD at its premises, with the main guest being Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi. High-level dignitaries attended, including the Consul General of Pakistan Hassan Afzaal Khan, the CEO of the Community Development Authority (CDA), Dr Omar Al Muthanna as well as a number of diplomats from the Philippines, Cuba, Ireland, Algeria, Nepal, Turkmenistan, Nigeria, Senegal. , Romania, Panama, Belarus, Kyrgyz Republic and Malaysia.
Dr Omar Al Muthanna said: “The United Arab Emirates is a beacon for many countries as well as one of the fastest growing economies in the region. “Amid Dubai’s growth, PAD has been one of the fastest transforming associations over the past decade. In the past 11 months alone, over 60 events have been hosted by the PAD in various fields including sports, education, language, health awareness, etc.,” he said.
PAD officials also acknowledged the support of the UAE Red Crescent and other organizations in the recent campaign in which a large number of relief items were sent to flood-affected people in various parts of the country. In his closing speech, Tirmizi reiterated the importance of the UAE-Pakistan friendship which dates back to the establishment of the UAE in 1971 and the common values shared between the two nations. “Indeed, these are two countries with one soul. On behalf of the Pakistani community, PAD Chairman Dr. Faisel Ikram congratulated the people and residents of the UAE while addressing the celebrations, considering the UAE as the top destination in the world. The amazing vision of the leaders of the United Arab Emirates has brought communities together in a melting pot of cultures to build a society of tolerance and diversity. Dr Ikram expressed his gratitude to the local authorities for their continued support and also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to “solidifying the important partnership we share with the UAE”.
However, during the event, the PAD had awarded a token of recognition to distinguished members of the Emirati community for their achievements. These people have also made a remarkable contribution to strengthening the Pakistan-UAE alliance. Among the many award winners are former Director of Government Communications at Dubai’s Ministry of Economic Development, Mariam Al Afridi, Emirati video/content creator Khalid Al Ameri, renowned Urdu poet Zubair Farooq and leading health care advisor Laila Al Jassmi.
