ABU DHABI, 26th November, 2022 (WAM) — His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has received a written letter from Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, President of the Republic of Maldives, addressing the ties between the two countries.
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received the letter during his meeting in Abu Dhabi with Abdulla Shahid, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the UAE-Maldives cooperation and prospects for its strengthening in various fields.
Sheikh Abdullah welcomed the visit of the Foreign Minister of the Maldives and highlighted the distinguished ties shared by their countries and their mutual desire to develop them, advance their common interests and bring more prosperity to their peoples.
Furthermore, they reviewed the development prospects of their bilateral cooperation in the renewable energy sector and efforts to boost global climate action, in particular with the UAE hosting the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change next year, and its leading role and initiatives in addressing global climate change.
In this context, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives commended the UAE’s dedication to hosting COP28 and its pioneering climate action efforts and initiatives.
The two sides also exchanged views on a number of issues of common interest, as well as the latest regional and international developments.
