Eagle-eyed residents may have noticed a network provider name change on Wednesday, November 23 to “UAE 51.” If you’ve spotted, you’re probably wondering “why?” Well, it’s to celebrate the National Day of the United Arab Emirates.
The UAE will turn 51 on Friday, December 2, and everyone who lives in the UAE can enjoy nationwide celebrations to mark the occasion.
Each year, the private and public sectors are given a day off to come together to celebrate. UAE National Day falls on a Friday, but remember it is Commemoration Day (formerly known as Martyr’s Day) on Thursday, December 1, so most UAE residents United will enjoy a four-day long weekend. The news was confirmed by the Federal Government Human Resources Authority.

Book tickets to attend the official celebrations in Abu Dhabi
The official UAE National Day celebrations are taking place in Abu Dhabi at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center starting Saturday, December 3. The celebrations last for nine full days until Sunday, December 11. Tickets are on sale for the celebrations and can be purchased here with prices from 200 Dhs.
Head outside and see the fireworks
In true UAE fashion, a number of fireworks are planned to celebrate the big day.
In Dubai, the scintillating performance takes place in several locations including The Pointe on Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Festival City Mall, Global Village and many more.
