Toyota teased its Redesigned 2023 Prius, which is the first entirely new version of the efficiency icon since the arrival of the Tesla Model 3. And then on Wednesday it revealed a new generation of the Prius; although not fully electric, the 2023 Prius lineup includes a 50% increase in the Prius Prime’s electric range, as well as sleeker styling, sportier tuning and an expanded set of safety features.

The first Porsche SUV, the 2024 Porsche Macan electric, will be the first model of the architecture known as PPE (Premium Platform Electric), which will also be the basis of future high-end electric vehicles from Audi and Bentley. We’ve looked at some of the technical points of this flexible platform that will eventually replace what underpins the Porsche Taycan and Audi Q8 E-Tron.
The Lucid Air Touring has 425 EPA claimed miles, the company revealed on Tuesday, on a smaller battery than the Tesla Model S. That confirmation came with a first delivery of the Touring. The Air Touring and Pure models get improved aerodynamics, and the base Air Pure, in twin-engine form, will go 410 miles.

Lucid also revealed more about its upcoming Gravity SUV. Specifically, it’s going to shake up the world of electric SUVs in the same way it did with the fuel-efficient Air sedan – by being the king of the electric SUV range.
Genesis has hinted that it plans to build an all-electric convertible. His Genesis X convertible concept joins the fastback X Speedium Coupe Concept and X Concept Coupe in making it clear that it plans to create something more luxurious and personal than its sedans and SUVs.

Nissan has packed a sequel to Benefits of EV ownership together for its Ariya and Leaf models. With charge credit, scheduled maintenance, roadside assistance and more, this package that Nissan calls EV Carefree+ can help highlight the strengths of electric vehicles to buyers.
Toyota also revealed the bZ Compact SUV Concept, a “nod to the near future”, teasing a direction the brand envisions for a production electric vehicle. With the development of new electric vehicles supposedly halted, will this racy-looking crossover make it to market?

Hybrids hit the sweet spot for cost of ownership and reliability, with their reliability generally being better than PHEVs or EVs. The Ford Maverick, Toyota Corolla and Lexus NX are top rated for reliability and high mpgaccording to the latest Consumer Reports survey, while the Ford Mustang Mach-E was singled out for its “diminishing reliability”.
Fiat is bringing back the 500th it once told Americans not to buy. The Renaissance Fiat 500e 2024 is coming to the United States, Stellantis confirmed this week. Scheduled to arrive in the first quarter of this week, the 500th will help Stellantis understand what marketing methods might work for higher-stakes electric vehicles from Jeep and Dodge.

Fisker Ocean production has begun, at the same Austrian factory where contractor Magna Steyr assembles the Jaguar I-Pace. The start is right on time with what Fisker originally announced at the Los Angeles Auto Show last year.
Electric vehicle buyers and owners have a new option to navigate the confusing possibilities between home, solar and home energy charging systems, by Hyundai Home, which was revealed last week to be essentially an aggregator that helps configure the best system of its kind for your needs. The two-way and V2L capabilities of Hyundai’s latest EVs, however, seem to be omitted.

The EV charging network EVgo is looking for more Tesla drivers— providing a “seamless” fast charging experience up to 250kw via a CCS Combo 1 adapter. This also increases the number of Tesla connectors.
Flywheel energy systems will help to quickly charge rental electric vehicles at New York’s LaGuardia Airport. The alternative to battery charging technology allows fast charging when the network does not support it. The pilot program for an unnamed car rental company starts in the second quarter of 2023.

And just before last weekend, Tesla announced that it open its charging connector standard to other automakers and hardware manufacturers, changing the name to North American Charging Standard (NACS). Will this allow Tesla to take advantage of federal EV charging network requirements for non-proprietary charging systems?
